It looks like Navigon may be making a marketing push for their FreshMaps service by offering a one-time free map update for current owners.

• UPDATED 20080204 BY GPSPASSION: Navigon have just made available an Update Release 1.1 (v6.5.2?) for the 2100, 5100 and 7100 AIOs. It has a size of about 25MB. More details starting on page 4 of this topic. How to download: the update is available through the MyNAVIGON section of the NAVIGON US website. Select the My Products section and click.
• Update Available. Go to Navigon.com and sign in to Mynavigon. It's ver 1.2 of the software an it's a 1.5 Gig file. My download manager says it'll take 5 hours to download. The good news is that a free map update is included!!:woohoo.

  but on navigonusa.com dosen´t show the latest map. only the option fresh map is given. I had the USA Nordamerikakarte (Q4/2008)

• My latest update for US maps is Q1 2009 on my 7200T. Apparently you can only purchase USA maps from a different country. Can't you purchase Fresh Maps and download the latest map version to your 2100? The updates are done using the application called Navigon Fresh.
  If you are asking where you can download an illegal copy of US maps then we can't help you here.

  I don't know how many cities you get for that price. Possibly only one city or possibly in some large metro areas such as Washington, DC/Baltimore you would get more than one. Don't know if it is available yet or IF it ever will be since rumor has it that Navigon is pulling out of the US market. So far it has only been mentioned in press releases and does not exist as a purchasable item on either Navigon or Rand McNally web sites or anywhere that I have found.

Although I’m a fan of Garmin GPS units I keep coming back to the one feature I like best about the Navigon 2100 and that’s the 3D Reality View (pictured above). With the Navigon there is no guessing about which lane I should be in.

Navigon quietly released their 1.2 firmware update which provides the following fixes/new features:

• Improved accuracy of ETA information

The 1.2 update weighs in at a hefty 2GB’s! However, it’s very worth the effort and time to download. I noticed right off the bat the Navigon 2100 is now more responsive and while I’ve used it this week while traveling in Portland, it’s been a real joy. You can download the 1.2 update by logging in to your My Navigon area of their website. Be sure to backup your existing SD card data first!

With the update and performance I’ve been getting so far this week, this little low cost GPS unit may just become my first choice when I travel!
